Discovery Museum

Grandie invited to take us all, including Berkley, to the Discovery Museum in Chattanooga on Wednesday. The museum is designed just for kids and all activities are hands on. We have wanted to go for several years, but this was our first visit. Since many school systems are on spring break this week I anticipated a big crowd so we headed out early in the morning. We were there when the museum opened at 10:00. Surprisingly, it wasn't that crowded. There were a few groups visiting, but as long as we timed it right we had most exhibits to ourselves.

One of the kids favorite spots was the Little Yellow House. It's a miniature house with a kitchen, dog house, garage and tree house.

The art area was set up with all the materials and instructions to make a cat mask, but our three artists came up with their own creations.

The kids enjoyed the archeological dig area. I explained to Emma Kate that this is the way scientists hunt for fossils. She liked brushing off the sand, but didn't want to get any in her shoes. She found a nice spot on the edge where she didn't have to actually get in the sand.

However, Alden very much enjoyed flinging his little shovel and making sand go everywhere. :)
